Ruth Isaacs, Alpha Epsilon State President 1987-1989, passed away on May 25, 2010.
A longtime member of Iota Chapter, Ruth actively led committees, was chapter president, and later served as chapter vice president.
She had served Alpha Epsilon State as a member of the state expansion and personnel committees, chaired the state membership and the ad hoc Coordinating Council committees, and was 2nd vice president prior to assuming the state presidency.  During her 1987-1999 biennium, Alpha Epsilon State celebrated its 50th anniversary.
Ruth had been a high school teacher of English, Latin, social studies and library.  Later she acquired an elementary license to teach first and third grades.  When Ruth told her young students she was retiring, one child said, “You can’t retire.  You’re the only one who loves me.”
Upon retirement she volunteered as coordinator of two county classroom projects and participated actively in the local Farm Bureau, Howard Township Home Economics Club, and Montgomery County Retired Teachers Association.  For twenty years Ruth Isaacs served as minister at Tangiers and Rush Creek Friends churches.  Through the Montgomery County Community Foundation, Ruth and her husband John endowed a four-year scholarship for area students.  Ruth relished traveling and reading.
Ruth Isaacs will be remembered as gentle and loving, generous and humble -- an encourager who felt deep concern for others.
