She has been helping JB Stephens Elementary School put in and maintain a sensory garden this season. The past four years Darlene has been a garden guide at Newfields (formerly called the Indianapolis Museum of Art) and had earned the 2017 Spring Volunteer Award for garden guide notes she made for the other guides. She served as state president of the Indiana State Reading Association prior to becoming the president of Alpha Epsilon State.
Mrs. Trusty moved from Noblesville to New Palestine in 2016. She still works part time at Allisonville Nursery in Fishers where she specializes in houseplants, fairy gardens, chemicals, and artificial Christmas trees. At home, Darlene cares for her dad, Robert Lamppert, who is 97 years old and her husband, Scott Trusty, who had a bi-lateral lung transplant.
