Mrs. Lora Nell Spence, 2001-2003

Mrs. Lora Nell Spence, Gamma Sigma Chapter, was a dedicated key woman educator who served The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International at all levels.
She served her Society chapter as president as well as in other capacities. At the state level, Mrs. Spence was treasurer (1991-2001), president (2001-2003) and executive secretary (2004-2012). She was a four-year member of the International Finance Committee and served as the 2006-2008 chairman.
Lora Nell taught in the Madison-Grant Schools for 35 years both as a teacher and a principal. She was the first special education teacher of the district, becoming Director of Special Education. She was principal at Park Elementary School for 21 years and was held in high esteem by the staff and parents for her dedication to the children of the school.
Lora Nell Spence was a longtime member of the Grant UM Church where she taught Sunday school classes, chaired several committees, and held various offices. She was a longtime volunteer at the Marion County General Hospital as well as past president of the hospital auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Ken and daughter Sherri, three granddaughters and several great-grandchildren.
