Miss Dorothy O’Risky, charter member of Gamma Iota, was a teacher of French and Spanish in the Mount Vernon Senior High School. She was instrumental in leading tours of language students to France. Dorothy served the Evansville community through AAUW and the North Park Baptist Church.
Dorothy held various Society positions in Gamma Iota Chapter as president, treasurer and corresponding secretary.  At the state level she was elected president, 1st vice president, 2nd vice president and corresponding secretary.  She chaired World Fellowships and Personal Growth and Services committees. During her biennium the state budget was revised for clarity and fiscal readiness.  In 1994 she was appointed chair of Indiana’s first leadership/management seminar held in Nashville IN.
Dorothy was proud to have been a member of the 1991 Golden Gift Leadership/Management Seminar in Austin TX.  She continued at the International level as a member of the Program of Works committee, chairing the Personal Growth and Services committee.
After retiring from teaching, Miss O’Risky chose to relocate in Gulf Shores, AL where she built a new home on a high lot, surviving Hurricane Ivan with little damage.  Dorothy “plunged into working with the community church to help all members and the neighborhood deal with Ivan’s aftermath.”  She was honored to serve as church secretary in her new home community.
