Mrs. Henrietta (Penny) Schaefer 1999-2001

Henrietta Schaefer, aka Penny, was initiated into Theta Chapter in 1975, then became a charter member of Gamma Mu in 1978.  At the chapter level she was chair of communications, research, nominations, chapter policy, and book awards.   She was elected 1stvice-president, then president, was appointed parliamentarian, and served as treasurer.
Penny entered the state activities in 1989 as a member of the communications committee and later was named chair of Personal Growth and Services.  She was elected to the offices of corresponding secretary, 2ndvice-president, 1stvice-president, and 1999-2001 state president. Penny received one of the first elderhostel grants in 1997 to study genealogy.   She served as chair of the 2003 Strategic Plan for Renewal, was named state editor in 2004, and was appointed state historian in 2013.  As a member of CC4, she was publicity chair of the 2018 state conference.
At the international level, Mrs. Schaefer was a member of the 2008-2010 Educators Book Award committee.  She served as communications chair of the 2014 Indianapolis International Convention steering committee.
