Jane Heneisen served as Alpha Epsilon State President, 1977-1979. During the biennium Indiana hosted the 1977 Northeast Regional Conference in Indianapolis. Jane was privileged to lead a state delegation to Stockholm, Sweden in 1978. As sponsors of the Sweden State Organization’s fifth chapter, Indiana members in attendance presented initiation paraphernalia to Epsilon Chapter at Uppsala.
Prior to serving as state president, Jane Heneisen had been chairman of the state membership committee as well as president of Pi Chapter. She was Alpha Epsilon State executive secretary for three years following her biennium.
Jane served her own community with diligence while teaching and later in retirement. For this dedication she received the University of Evansville’s National Alumni Certificate of Excellence in recognition of her professional and personal achievements.
Having served many years as a member and as secretary of the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Public Library Board, Mrs. Heneisen later was appointed by Indiana’s governor to the state’s library certification board.
She was instrumental in organizing and directing a tour guide service for the Evansville Retired Teachers Association. Proceeds from the tours were used to fund scholarships. She was a lifetime trustee of this scholarship endowment fund to benefit University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana students aspiring to be future educators.
Jane Heneisen enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Europe and Scandinavia with her family.
