A charter member of Upsilon Chapter, Miss L. Grace Anderson was installed as state president in 1957.  Prior to that time, Miss Anderson worked at the state level as legislative chair and as parliamentarian in preparation for the duties of state president.
Grace Anderson previously served a three-year term as chapter president, following earlier duties of corresponding secretary, legislative chair, and program chair.
She maintained an active role in AAUW, Indiana School Women, local and state Classroom Teachers Associations and was a longtime participating member of the Indiana School Study Commission.  She also served her community in several capacities.
“As a child Miss Anderson dreamed of being a teacher and at the age of eighteen that dream was realized.  She started her teaching career with the first eight grades in a one room school house near Salem, Indiana…  Later she taught at Dugger, Indiana,…” and then taught Latin in the Seymour schools.
