Dr. Joanne Lantz, 1975-1977

A longtime member of Phi Chapter, Dr. Joanne B.  Lantz served the Society at all levels. She had a certain energy, enthusiasm, and talent for accomplishing goals. Her rapport with others was apparent to all who knew her. 
Joanne Lantz served at the chapter level as 2ndvice-president, 1st vice-president and president. She assumed the task of secretary-treasurer for the Fort Wayne Council.  
During her biennium as state president, the first Fall Function was held in Brown County. Joanne was selected as a member of the first Leadership Management Seminar (1980) at Baylor University.
Dr. Lantz was the 1977 Indianapolis Northeast Regional Conference chair, 1982-1984 Northeast Regional Director, 1986 Indianapolis International Convention chair, and 1986-1988 member of the Bulletineditorial board. Also at the international level, she chaired the 1995 ad hoc Committee to Address Issues and Implement the Strategic Plan for Renewal, was an Educational Foundation trustee for six years, and served on the 2002-2006 nominations committee.
Joanne Lantz was known for her “people skills,” both professionally and personally.  She was the first female chancellor at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW), retiring as professor emerita of psychological sciences and chancellor emerita in 1994. Joanne and her husband Wayne established the Joanne B. and Wayne E. Lantz Endowment Fund for IPFW students. She was described as “a strong woman in a male environment,  … able to communicate readily with others,” … “fun, sharp, self-deprecating, caring and above all, REAL.” Dr. Lantz was a friend and mentor to all who knew her.
